Shipbuilding

Shipbuilding is a branch of heavy industry concerning building of ships.

Shipbuilding

Building of a modern ship includes preparation of sheet material and shapes, blanking or casting of details of the hull, joining of separate constructions of the hull, assembly of the hull from sections and blocks, launching of the ship, population of equipment on it and interior finishing of space inside the ship, check of the shipboard equipment and the ship as a whole. Hulls of large ships are assembled from sections and blocks.

In order to accelerate the process of Shipbuilding a significant part of assembly operations is done with preliminary assembly by population of machinery, devices and other accessory equipment into sections and blocks. In preparation of separate constructions (for example, deck erections) or hulls bodily from lightweight alloys, iron concrete and plastics special operating procedures are applied.

Reinforced Plastics

Reinforced plastics are composites on the basis of a polymer binding substance (matrix) and a reinforcing filler of a fibre pattern. Heat-convertible resins and engineering thermoplastics are used as binding substances. Inorganic and organic fibre materials in the form of monofilament yarns, complex yarns, short (discontinuous) fibres, tows, fabrics, felts and single crystal filaments serve as fillers.
